When Buchic open their buds, they scatter many flammable spores, which they may ignite if they feel cornered. They do not need to eat, as they absorb sunlight. To drink water, they perch beside a river and dip their beaks into the water.
If attacked, it strikes back by spitting balls of fire it forms in its stomach. Over the winter, it closes its bud and endures the cold.
