Gibsect are usually found in natural hot springs, submerged in the warm water with only their fin above the surface. They derive nutrition from chemicals dissolved in the water, but will still bite anyone who tries to bathe in the same pool.

Gibsect are known to infest the roots of large trees en masse and drain nutrients. It nests in small, horizontal holes in cave walls.
