When frightened, packs of Joleon will take off with a crack of lightning, often leaving small deposits of fulgurite in their wake. Gem collectors and jewelry makers will scare groups of Joleon on purpose to collect the valuable glass.

Its cells generate weak power that is amplified by its fur's static electricity to drop thunderbolts. They attach themselves to large-bodied Pokémon and absorb static electricity, which they store in an electric pouch.
