When threatened, Paraquil will curl itself up beneath its mushroom and scatter a cloud of spores that burn the lungs when inhaled. If the mushroom cap is damaged, it will be shed and replaced by the fungal network beneath it.

It flares flames from its back to protect itself. Paraquil are known to infest the roots of large trees en masse and drain nutrients.
