Paraklang's gears remain still as the fungus that grows on it feeds on tree roots. They only begin to turn once this fungus is ready to scatter spores from its mushrooms, and will spin at high speed to fling spores long distances.
The gear with the red core is rotated at high speed for a rapid energy charge. Paraklang are known to infest the roots of large trees en masse and drain nutrients.
