Paravern hides underground during the day, the thick mat of fungus on its back nourishing itself on tree roots. On moonless nights, it emerges to hunt, locating prey in the dark using echolocation, then knocking it out with spores from its mushrooms.

They fly around on moonless nights and attack careless prey. Paravern are known to infest the roots of large trees en masse and drain nutrients.
