Although small, Wailchic can inhale nearly two gallons of water; they only inhale that much when they plan to walk on land. Though they typically walk along the seabed, their legs are developed enough to be used for swimming.

If attacked, it strikes back by spitting balls of fire it forms in its stomach. While this Pokémon usually lives in the sea, it can survive on land, although not too long.
