The shell coating much of Shelchomp's body gives it additional protection, but hampers its speed and maneuverability somewhat. Despite this, it is an efficient hunter, able to prey even on vicious creatures such as Hydreigon on occasion.
When it folds up its body and extends its wings, it looks like a jet plane. It hardly eats while it awaits evolution.
