Volcagross observe the movements of the sun, moon, and stars, and are able to calculate the exact timing of eclipses. Whenever the moon occludes the sun, Volcagross create a brightly glowing ball of fire above them to illuminate their surroundings.

Volcagross has four brains that are joined by a complex neural network. A sea of fire engulfs the surroundings of their battles, since they use their six wings to scatter their ember scales.
