Before a battle, Paraleef twirls the pale leaf on its head to release a cloud of invigorating spores. In dry conditions, it uses the leaf to shade the mushrooms in a ring around its neck.

The ring of mushrooms around Paraleef's neck produces spores with various effects, sometimes putting Pokémon to sleep and sometimes waking them up. Which spores are released seems to be determined by the fungus sprouting from Paraleef's head.

A Paraleef's neck is ringed by curled-up leaves. Paraleef are known to infest the roots of large trees en masse and drain nutrients.
